Before and after makeover

CALANDRA is a 20th century secretary that didn't look like much... The frame is made of oak and the drawers are finished with dovetails (so you don't end up with the drawer front in your hand).
A CALATHÉA makeover and it's full of joy, light and nature. The top shelf has been removed to make it lighter.

To get to this point:

- Dismantling the door and leaf & removing all the old hardware,

- 80-grit sanding to lighten the surface,

- A 3-coat woodworm treatment,

Proven effectiveness in accordance with standard EN 599-1
Insecticide: protects the wood and destroys insects and termites
A+ VOC

- Resin finish on drawers to hide the fine mouldings on the front,

- Fine sanding 120/180 and 00000 steel wool on sculptures,

- Installation of natural caning on the door, after dismantling the door frame,

- Painting the bottoms and fronts of the drawers, alcoves and writing surface,

- Upholstering the alcove bottoms,

- Natural beeswax finish ,

- Fitting new brushed brass hardware.
