MIDAS is a pretty, rustic console from the 20th century, which had plenty of charm from the moment it arrived. But its age had left its mark... The bottom of the drawer had become completely detached by damp and the bottom shelf was badly stained, leaving only room for stain or paint...
The workshop wanted to develop gilding on wood, and the project gradually took shape.
To get to this point:
- Dismantling the drawer base & removing all the old hardware,
- Cutting out a new drawer base and installing it,
- Gluing the bottom shelf back together, as the bottom rails had split,
- 80-grit sanding to lighten the surface,
- A 3-coat wood-eating treatment,
-
Proven effectiveness in accordance with standard EN 599-1
-
Insecticide: protects the wood and destroys insects and termites
-
A+ VOC
- Fine sanding 120/180 and 00000 steel wool on sculptures,
- Painting of drawer bottoms and bottom shelf,
- All imitation gold leaf gilding (copper/zinc) & varnishing,
- Cleaning the Grey Marble,
- Natural beeswax finish ,
- Fitting new brushed brass hardware.
