The original sewing cabinet was in a sorry state! The top was warped and the legs rusty, but nothing serious for the Atelier! When I went bargain-hunting, it was right next to an old oak table that I'd been eyeing for a while, and then EUREKA!

To get to this point:

- Over 10 hours of stripping/sanding with 80-grit sandpaper on the legs and top + 0000 steel wool for the raw steel,

- Making all the holes for the taps and fixing them to the oak top,

- A 3-coat wood-eating treatment for the oak top.

  • Proven effectiveness in accordance with standard EN 599-1

  • Insecticide: protects the wood and destroys insects and termites

  • A+ VOC

- Fine sanding 120 / 180 / 240 of the oak top (important for waterproofing),

- Application of 3 coats of special damp area oil to the oak top,

- Anti-rust treatment of the steel legs and varnish on the raw area,

- Special black iron paint on the inside of the legs,

- Fixing the top,

- Waxing the top with natural beeswax.
